Mala immersed in art at the Kochi-Muziris Biennale in 2018

Mala Yamey works as the Head of Programs for Art South Asia Project and Associate Curator for Invisible Dust.

Mala is an independent curator, freelance writer, and art historian. She has worked in commercial galleries, auction houses and the non-profit art world. Mala has previously worked at Kochi Biennale Foundation, Lévy Gorvy, Sotheby’s, Omer Tiroche Gallery and The Frestonian Gallery. She has a BA in History of Art at the University of Cambridge and an MA in History of Art at The Courtauld Institute of Art. She recently gained a MA with Distinction in Curating Contemporary Art at the Royal College of Art. Her current research interests centre around transnational exhibition histories in South Asia.

She is a regular contributor for publications such as La Gazette Drouot International in Paris, Stillpoint Journal, London and the Earth Issue, London. She is a member of The Lazy Susans Curatorial Collective, and co-curated Our Dahlia Allowance at The Flower Project, Cambridge in August 2021. In 2022, she co-curated Grace Ndiritu – An Absolute River at LUX, London from May – July 2022. Most Recently, she worked as Associate Assistant Curator for Sea Change at the Royal Docks in May 2023.
